Privileges Pack to value of $1,300
$500 cash thanks to ActewAGL and TransACT
$500 CPS Credit Union account

Mrs Bea Duncan:

Hold a competition nationwide for high school-age students on the theme of Canberra.  Select winners from every community and bring them to Canberra for a "jamboree" style event held by the lake in a tent city. Involve local people too

2-10th Prizes

$500 cash thanks to ActewAGL and TransACT

Ms Julie McKay:

Close down Anzac Parade for a night, and have a black tie dinner under the stars, fully catered, sit down meal.  Similar function has been held in Brisbane on the Goodwill bridge.  Great fundraiser, and a fantastic photo opportunity

Ms Sarah Steed:

"Canberra Rocks" festival featuring music performers for all ages/music interests (kids/adults).  Canberra misses out lots of big name acts, and local kids can only attend events like Big Day Out if they can go interstate or down the coast. Week long series.

Mr Nicholas Pinter:

The construction of a wave pool complex that is part of the Lake Burley Griffin would be a great gift to all Canberrans. Bring the “surf” to Canberra, instead of Canberra going to the surf.

Mr Mark Will:

Canberra Centenary Three Peaks Run.  Each year leading up to 2013 (or just in 2013) a run starting from Black Mountain Peninsula taking in (and up) Black Mountain, Mt Ainslie, Mt Pleasant and finishing at the lake to challenge runners from not only the ACT.

Mr Peter Huta:

100 Canberra Places:  Assign 100 locations around Canberra as 100 Places of significance, each to be assigned a permanent marker/beacon and marked on future tourist maps.

Mrs Pat Darlington:

If Ngunnawal people agree, host an Indigenous festival featuring dance and music from across Australia. Similar to the Garma, Yeeperenye, Sydney Dreaming and Kaju (Jindabyne 2002) festivals.  This is essential for reconciliation and for Canberra to move forward.

Mrs Julia Bosel:

A raft race across Lake Burley Griffin, where prizes are given for the best raft, the best dressed raft and crew, as well as first, second and third prize winners.

Mrs Jennifer Phillips:

Need a centre for digital art/media, could be much more than Melbourne's Centre for the Moving Image.  Need a 'gallery' that displays digital art, interactive happenings, animations, maybe a lab of interactive games, simulations for visitors to tour.

Mrs Lee Greenough:

As centenary birthday gift to resident lease-holders, all domestic leases to be given a 100-year extension.  Change-of-lease to reverts back to original lease term.

We should create a huge timeline which shows all of the achievements we as the capital of Australia have achieved or make a collage of photos about Canberra.

Karla Dodt, 6, Florey Primary School

I think we should have a big party with lollies and fireworks and each child should get a book about Canberra to take home.  Everything should be free so that even families with no money can enjoy Canberra’s Birthday.

Aika O’Toole, 14, Melba High School

Local artists make 30cm ceramic squares – when put together create two large handmade ceramic wall sculptures of satellite pictures of Canberra, one from 100 years ago and one from today.  Metal frame with all the great things that happened in Canberra inscribed into it (timeline). Backdrop for garden/fountain at a famous landmark in Canberra.

Samantha Bobba, 14, Lyneham High School

We should have a huge celebration at Commonwealth Park with activities about Canberra’s history for families, and everyone in Canberra should help create a Centenary mural in the park.  Canberra’s heroes should be acknowledged and at night there should be the greatest fireworks ever, flags and banners are also important!
